When not using https://, using direct IP access is preferred to minimize, if only slightly, the chances of a spoofed server. Servers need to have a dedicated port number though. Most of them don't unless they're accessed over IPv6 which unfortunately seems to have stopped its deployments since NAT was revived by Docker/Kubernetes. IPv4: http://208.113.135.20:80/\\ IPv6: http://[2001:470:b9dd:feed::]:80/\\ IPv6 address differs per each server. The above corresponds to a gateway (which might work), otherwise it would be an address in the range 2001:470:b9dd::/48.
